Jeffery Hen - Panda Wants to Play

When Jeffery Hen got back home, Panda was throwing a big fit about not getting to play with the other chicks. Jeffery Hen said, "Panda, it time for you to take a nap."

Panda didn't want to go to sleep. Panda finally cried herself to sleep. She slept till about bed time and she woke up, and when she did she kept everybody in the hen house awake.

Roo and Bear decided they would sleep up in the tree. They flew out of the window and roosted together on a branch. Quick as they got to sleep; it started to rain and when it did they woke up in the biggest misery ever was. It was so dark that they couldn't see, but they sure can hear. They follow the noise that Panda was making in their hen house and knew right where to go. It took them awhile to get into the hen house and when they did they were soaked to the bone. Water was just a dripping off of them.

Roo said, "For once we got some use out of that mouth of hers."

Jeffery Hen said, "What do you mean, you got some use out of it?"

Roo said, "We couldn't see to know how to get here so we followed the noise she was making."

Outside the rain was just pouring; so everybody in the hen house just perched on the perching rod and all at once they all fell asleep. The next day when the sun came out nobody in Roo's hen house noticed it because they were still sleeping. The rain was still pouring outside that nobody could get out to do anything no way.

When the rain finally stopped it was pass noon and everybody in Chickenville seem to be coming out of their hen houses all at once. It was too late for Roo to start crowing so every rooster including Roo went on the hunt. The problem they had was that everything they would find was soaking with rain.

Back at the hen house Panda was crying for something to eat and wanted to go out and play. Jeffery Hen had to comfort her the best she could. She said, "Panda, we are all hungry and you can't go outside because it is just too wet."

When the roosters did come back from the hunt everybody ate like they were starved to dead. The roosters see that they will have to leave again and get back before dark with enough for everybody to eat before roosting time. Panda was still crying because she didn't get enough to eat and she also got so dirty in the mud that Jeffery Hen had to take her to the watering hole to clean her.
