Silly Sunday Sketches

Jeffery recently discovered a stash of sketches the Guinea Girls made many years ago.  (I might have taken part in the silly sketching too.)  I will try to post some of them here over the next several Sundays.

Here is the first one...

Don't know who the artist is for this one.  We think it is supposed to be Jennie Lynn after Randy put her into the weeds on the Ski-Biscuit.  Her eyes bulged out of her head and she was screaming at the top of her lungs, "GET ME OUT OF HERE!"  Everybody, but Jennie, thought it was hilarious.

Here's another one:

Pretty sure this is supposed to be Jeffery riding the Ski-Biscuit.

Bloodsong

Jennie and I went with our friend Rhonda Thacker last Saturday to see "Bloodsong, The Story of the Hatfields and the McCoys." A special presentation of the play was staged in the Pike County Courthouse.  It was performed in the same courtroom where Ellison "Cotton Top" Mounts was tried in 1889 and sentenced to hang.

A couple of Elkhorn City graduates played prominent roles.  Lucille probably remembers Roger Belcher and David Sykes.  Some of the rest of you may recognize them.

Roger Belcher played the role of Devil Anse Hatfield.  His son and grandson also had parts in the show.

David Sykes played Bad Jim Vance, Devil Ance's uncle.  He's the one on the left in this photo.

How about a game of "Where's Waldo Clyde".  See if you can find another Elkhorn City grad in this shot of the audience.

(HINT: I'm the handsome fellow in the third row.)

Happy Birthday Amber - Sept. 24

I'm told this is a reenactment of the moment Jevon first met Amber.  Apparently, he recognized right away, this was the perfect girl for him.

MMB - Unknown Photo #4

Time for another unknown photo from Mom's Memory Box...

On the back of this photo, someone has written "Bret's Kids".   Any idea who Bret might be?

Veronica's Birthday

I went searching for old photos of Veronica to post for her birthday and discovered I don't have any B.E. (Before Emerson) pics of her.  I know she was around in the days B.E.  She had to be.  There must be photos of her somewhere from the B.E. era.  Sadly, I don't have anything older than this...

Birthday Girl - Sept. 17

Here's another find from Moma's Box of Memories...

There have been several birthdays come and go since this photo was taken.  My guess is that this was probably taken on a Sunday morning on the way to church.  It will be interesting to compare this to what Mallory looks like in about a year.

Mayberry McInnis Meme

Browsing my Instagram feed today I came across this recent photo that Caitlyn had posted of her and a friend...

caitlyn.spam05  Just remember if we get caught I’m deaf and you don’t speak English!

I'm wondering, "Where in the world has she heard that?  Is it from a movie I haven't seen? Stupid and Stupider or Napoleon TNT or something like that?"

A quick Google search reveals it is a quote from Rick Riordan and is a popular meme on the internet.  You can buy T-shirts, posters and other things with this saying on them.

Scrolling down one more post I think I found the perfect photo for this meme...

g8trs99 Pics in the theater?
cmcinnis80 @g8trs99 yep

I suspect this meme probably originated with this duo.  Now I'm fearing the next generation of Florida kids is going to be just as wild and crazy as the one before it.

Mom's Memory Box - Unknown Photos #1 & 2

Most of the photos in Mom's Memory Box are not labeled and I don't recognize the people in many of them.  Thought I might post some photos here and maybe you all can help me identify them.  Here are a couple I'm just not 100% sure about...

Could this be Dawn Elizabeth and Jon?

Let me know what you think. If this works, I've got about a hundred more to identify.

Another million dollar idea from the StalkerClan...

The Beauty Bag!

I can't figure out why none of our million dollar ideas have taken off and made us all rich.  Maybe we need to go on "Shark Tank" and offer 10% of our business for a two million dollar investment.

Newest Grandparents

Today is the first Grandparents Day for the newest grandparents on the StalkerClan...Jim and Michelle.

Suggested by Sherry

Puzzled

Mom moved into Cedar Creek in June of last year and by July she was bored.  With no cleaning, cooking, laundry or housework to do, she felt like she had too much time on her hands.  She decided that the next time we went to Walmart, she wanted a jigsaw puzzle.  That would give her something to do in her spare time.

Well, a few days later we were at Walmart and we went through every puzzle in the store.  "Too many pieces."  "Those pieces are too small." "Not a very pretty picture." "Don't they have any religious ones?"  We went to the Christian Book Store to see if they had anything.  No luck.

I finally hit on the idea of ordering her one and found a photo I was sure she would like.  I uploaded it to the Walmart Photo Store and in about a week the puzzle arrived, 250 pieces, just the right size.

Now we faced another problem...where to work the puzzle.  Every horizontal surface in Mom's apartment was covered with something.  Lotions, potions, pills, and paraphernalia covered every square inch.  The little bistro set that Jennie and I got for her would have been ideal, but it was covered with pillboxes, paper plates, water bottles and dishes.  There was a big fruit bowl full of apples and bananas she added to daily by bringing "a little something to eat later" from the dining room.

Down the corridor from her room was a table where the residents sometimes got together to work on puzzles.  I had seen some partially completed puzzles there.  No, Mom didn't think that would be a good idea.  "Someone might make off with it."

I know we discussed working on that puzzle at least a dozen times over the next few months but the time was never right.  "Church will be starting soon."  "It's getting pretty close to supper time."  "I might ought to go check on Mrs. Justice." "I can't miss Morgan."

The puzzle never got worked.

With the haste and confusion as we packed up Mom's things to empty her room, I can't recall who took the puzzle.  I remember thinking it should go to Shawn and Jennifer, but I don't know if it ever got to them.

Wherever it is now, someone should work that DARN puzzle.

Ootie Riggin' TNG

We've seen several examples of Ootie Riggin' on the StalkerClan in years past.  Looks like this old family tradition is being carried on by The Next Generation (TNG)...

Take an Amazon box, some toilet paper rolls, some tape, add a little imagination and you've got yourself an alarm clock.  Sophie, apparently, doesn't want to oversleep and be late for school.  Watch her creation in action.

The 19¢ Playing Cards

I remember back when I was in the fifth grade, I went out to Hamilton's 5 & 10¢ store and purchased a deck of playing cards.  I said to myself, "If nobody else plays with me, Jeffery will."

When we all got finished eating supper I said, "Hey Jeffery, want to play some cards?"

She said, "Sure."

I got her to sit down on one end of the couch and I got the coffee table and put it in front of us.  The game played like Crazy 8's except it had colored pictures on them.  This was the first time we ever played this game.

While we were playing Clyde went into the kitchen, got a chair, put it in front of us and said he wanted to play also.  I couldn't believe it.  I remember some of his friends came to the house and played with us also.

Sophie Starts School

Sometimes hardcore personalities require hardcore parenting ... then sometimes, their hardcore outplays yours...

Soph: (after crying about having to go to school all morning) “Why do I have to go to school?!”

Why do I have to go to school?

Me: (deciding it’s time to be blunt): “So you’re not an idiot your entire life.”

Soph: (feigning deep thought): “Well, Cameron and Cason have gone to school a long time and they’re both still idiots”.:.

Well played, Soph. Well played.
