Glory Days

When she was cleaning at Grandma Stalker’s recently, Luci ran across this old newspaper clipping from Florida.

After reading a little of it (“one of the true stars” … ”one of the area’s best.”), I think Crystal probably wrote the article herself.

Luci didn’t find any clippings from my football ‘Glory Days’.  I suspect the Sears catalog ran out and my clippings probably got used in the outhouse at Yellow Hill … ripped up, wiped on and tossed down the dark hole to the pile below.  ’Glory Days’ can be very fleeting things in the StalkerClan world.

Twilight Caitlyn

I hear that someone is really struck on that fellow in the movie Twilight

I can’t help but think that he is a little bit too old for her, not to mention that ‘Vampire’ thing.

I thought Jevon would have a few years before he had to worry about this happening.  I guess his headaches may start sooner than expected.  I really feel sorry for him.

Work Zone

When Luci comes up to work at Mom and Dad’s it’s serious business.  She doesn’t piddle around like Jeff and Randy or Michelle and Jim do when they come for a ‘Working’.  If you don’t believe me, take a look at this photo from her recent visit…

Things really get done when Luci goes to work.  Heck, it sometimes takes Mom two weeks to undo everything she does.

Jeffery Hen – Planning a Birthday Party

Jeffery Hen knew it wasn't going to be long till Crystal Fawn would have her first birthday. She also knew it would be the triplets birthday too. Jeffery Hen said to herself, "I think I will go over to Henriette's and see if she might agree to having a birthday party for the four of them."  Jeffery Hen asked Panda and Bear to watch over Crystal Fawn till she came back home.

When she got close to Henriette's she could hear the triplets inside the henhouse. She could tell that Henriette was having a hard time with them.  Jeffery Hen looked around and she saw Henry close by. She went over to him and said, "Henry, I would like to have a talk with Henriette, but I noticed the boys are keeping her busy."

Henry said, "Well, I will go over and tell Henriette you are here."

Jeffery Hen said, "Thank you."

When they got to the henhouse, Henry went inside and told Henriette that Jeffery Hen wanted to have a talk with her. When Henriette got outside, Jeffery Hen told Henriette that she would like to have a party for Crystal Fawn and the triplets.

Henriette said, "I don't think I would be much of help."

Jeffery Hen said, "It will take us a month to prepare it."

Henriette said, "I will think about it."

Jeffery Hen said, "Well, I will let you know if anything is decided."

When Jeffery Hen got home she didn't want the chicks to know what she was planning. When Roo got home she told Roo in secret that Henriette and her were thinking about having a birthday party for Crystal Fawn and the triplets. Jeffery Hen said, "Would you and Henry help us?"

Roo said, "I am sure we will."

The next day went the roosters came home from their hunt, Roo went up to Henry and told him about the birthday party Jeffery Hen wanted to have for the chicks.

Good Clean Fun

Amber sent me these pictures from Florida and I am not sure what to make of them.

Hog Waller, Interlachen, FL

They are from a place called 'Hog Waller'  which is a big mud hole out in Interlachen.

Come on Austin, your mom will never know.

I guess this is how they have fun down there  in Florida.

If you don't tell her we went in, I won't either.

It kinda' reminds me of bath day when we were growing up at Yellow Hill.

What did I tell you boys about getting dirty?

On second thought, it looks more like when Jeffery would slop the hogs, except our hog lot wasn't quite that big.

Wildflower Weekday

Somebody mentioned that Wildflower Weekend was coming up soon.  I was sitting around today and got to wondering what effect spring was having around the Stalker homestead.  I grabbed my camera and went out to the back yard.

The blossoms on the pink dogwood trees at the back of the house have been opening over the past few days...

The blooms have about all blown off the pear trees that Ted gave us a few years ago.  He WILK'ed us good with those.  The little white petals blow everywhere.  Windy days it looks like it's snowing.  Even worse, the trees are three or four years old now and there still hasn't been the first pear on them.
Jennie has several flowers growing in a box out back.  I have no idea what they are but they come in a lot of different colors...

The cold weather the past few nights has been hard on the little pink blossoms on the bushes growing along our fence...

But the most plentiful flowers I found were the little round yellow ones growing all over the yard.  They are everywhere!

I think they are kinda pretty.  It seems a shame to mow them down but Jennie insists, so I guess I better get the old lawn mower going.

Belated Birthday Wishes

Oops, I missed a birthday.  Justin Schell celebrated a birthday on the 4th and I missed it.  Sorry Justin!

Justin was nice enough to let me and Jennie sleep in his bedroom when we were there for Stalker Days last year.   He had his room all decorated in camo.  It was definitely a real boy's room.

Looks like he may be thinking about adding some pretty butterflies to decorate the room for our visit this year.  Surely, he wouldn't be thinking about leaving any creepy crawly things in there  for us, would he?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN

Getting Ready for Stalker Days

Jim has been busy as a beaver getting ready for this upcoming 'Stalker Days'.  He has fixed one of the rooms in the basement into a mini gym.

We have several pieces of exercise equipment that we can use to work off all that garden food we have to consume during Stalker Days. For you that don't know, we help Jim's dad Oliver take care of all the excess food he has in the garden, so it don't worry him about it going to waste. (We Stalkers are always concerned about how to help our family out of such undo stress).  Jim also has several steaks in the freezer waiting for another chance to fire up the grill.

Also, due to the fact that Jim's buddy Clyde took a tumble in one of our rocking chairs, Jim had to run right out and buy two solid wood rockers for Clyde to sit around in during Stalker Days.

New Shelves

Luci called one day and asked if Jim would care to put some shelves up in Mom's bathroom and in the kitchen.  We went up over spring break and Jim got the shelves put up and I think they look good.

Clyde came up to help but some how he ended up helping Daddy more than he did Jim.

We got the biggest tickle out of Daddy.  He said that Luci had came up with the idea of getting the lift chair and a hospital bed.  He loved the lift chair, but he hated the hospital bed.  He said he climbed over the bars on that bed four nights before he threw Sherry in it.   Sherry only lasted two nights before she bailed out of it.  He said his only regret about the hospital bed was that Luci didn't get a night or two in it before they took it back.

Jim said if you don't like the shelves, don't say nothing, he don't want to know.
