After Panda's first birthday, she noticed a change in her body. She noticed the ends of her wings started to grow little puffs of feathers. Panda didn't know what they were so she went to her mother and asked. "Mom," chirped Panda, "what are these things on my wings?"
Jeffery Hen couldn't understand what she was trying to chirp out, so Panda raised her wings and showed her. Jeffery Hen said, "Why, Panda, you going to start having feathers just like everybody else."
When Panda heard this she thought she could fly. She flapped her wings back and forth, hoping that her wings will pick her up off of the ground. She wanted to fly so she can get up in the trees and crow like her daddy. Jeffery Hen took Panda outside because she was causing too big of a stir in the henhouse.
Outside of the henhouse Vicki Hen and her twins were outside, the twins were a little older then Panda. When Panda saw them she wanted to show them her wings, and that she was wanting to see if she could fly. The twins didn't know this and wanted to fly also. Their wing feathers were bigger then Panda's so they did a little better then she did. They used their wings and did get a little off of the ground. This make Panda feel bad cause she can't get off of the ground at all.
Vicki Hen and Jeffery Hen were watching them all of the time. Panda came over to her mother and started to cry. Jeffery Hen said, "Panda, the twins are just a little bit older then you is why they can fly a little bit better then you."
Vonda came over to see what was the matter with Panda. Vicki Hen took her wings and showed Panda that the feathers on her wings were bigger then hers and that made a big difference. "Your feathers will get big one of these days," said Vicki Hen, "You will be able to fly to the top of the tree just like your daddy, Roo."
