Bloodsong

Jennie and I went with our friend Rhonda Thacker last Saturday to see "Bloodsong, The Story of the Hatfields and the McCoys." A special presentation of the play was staged in the Pike County Courthouse.  It was performed in the same courtroom where Ellison "Cotton Top" Mounts was tried in 1889 and sentenced to hang.

A couple of Elkhorn City graduates played prominent roles.  Lucille probably remembers Roger Belcher and David Sykes.  Some of the rest of you may recognize them.

Roger Belcher played the role of Devil Anse Hatfield.  His son and grandson also had parts in the show.

David Sykes played Bad Jim Vance, Devil Ance's uncle.  He's the one on the left in this photo.

How about a game of "Where's Waldo Clyde".  See if you can find another Elkhorn City grad in this shot of the audience.

(HINT: I'm the handsome fellow in the third row.)
