Preparing for Memorial Day

During a break in the rain Jennie and I got decorating done at Fords Branch, Dow Brooks and the Ratliff Cemetery.  Hopefully we can get to Wilson in the next day or two.

Here are a couple of photos from today.

The hillside graveyards seem to get steeper and higher every year.  I don't know how many more years Jennie will be able to carry me up there to watch her work.

Happy ??

Today is Jennie Lynn's birthday.  She has received flowers, jewelry, lotions and potions, dinnerware,  clothes, and decorations from her many friends.  Several of them got together for lunch today. Her friend Paul bought her lunch and paid for mine too!  Happy Birthday!

She has spent the last eight hours responding to all the birthday wishes on Facebook.  Eight hours of peace and quiet for me.  This is turning into my favorite birthday yet.

I got her a card.  I made sure it said a bunch of mushy stuff before I plunked down my $1.49.  Oh, and I'm posting about it on the Stalkerclan.  Not everyone gets that kind of treatment.

Precocious Pastry Chef

Jennie is well known for her baking talents.  Her Chess Cake and Christmas goodies draw rave reviews.  Few people know just how early her interest in baking began...

I'm guessing the Teddy Bear had to wash the dishes.

Great Minds?

They claim it's proof of the old adage about Great Minds Thinking Alike,,, Jennie and Lela Kay got each other the exact same Christmas Card this year.

Jennie signed hers, "to my Little Sis" and Lela signed hers, "to my Big Sis."

Does anyone else find this a little scary?

Memorial Day 2023

A few photos from Memorial Day 2023...

Mom & Dad's headstone got a cleaning and new flowers.

The Ratliff Cemetery had been mowed and cleaned the best we've seen it in years.  We didn't have to do much work at all there.

The Wilson Cemetery was also cleaned and looked good

There are more photos in my Google Photos Album.

Memorial Day in the Rear View Mirror

Jennie complains each Memorial Day that every photo we take at her family's cemetery shows her bending over, working on the decorations.  She doesn't think that is a flattering pose.

Just to set the record straight, I found one photo of her from 2007 where she is not bending over...yet.

Birthday Girl

Can you guess today's birthday girl?

Here are some hints...

She probably baked that cake.
Those candles didn't stand a chance.

Wedding Pics

I thought some of you might enjoy these photos from the wedding that Jennie and I attended last weekend...

The setting was Cedarvine Manor, an old southern plantation just north of Murfreesboro.   The movie 'Gone With the Wind" could have been filmed there.

The parents of the bride are Jennie's brother Steve and his wife Debbie.

The flower girl is Jennie's grandniece Sydney, Clint's daughter.

The bride is of course, Jennie's niece Stacy.  The groom was some poor fellow named Rodney.  I tried to warn him, he wouldn't listen.
