Happy Two Billionth Birthday!

Would you believe there is one billion seconds in 33 years! Uncle Willie will be 66 years old this October 5th. That's two billion seconds.

When he turned one billion seconds he only had a wife, son, and daughter. Now that he is two billion seconds old, he has a wife, two sons, a daughter, a granddaughter and five grandsons.

Wow! What a difference a billion seconds makes.

Editors Note: I've never taken issue with Sherry's mathematics before but she is off just a little this time. According to Google Calculator 66 years = 2,082,757,110 seconds. So Willie is now almost 83 million seconds into his third billion. He actually hit 2 billion back when he was 63 years, 4 months and about 15 days old.

How he has used those 2 billion seconds is interesting. If I give him credit for the second it took him to say "I do" when he married Carolyn, and a second each for the birth of Johnnie, Dawn, William and the six grandkids, that a total of 10 seconds that would be considered 'memorable'. That leaves 2,082,757,100 seconds that he has simply wasted sleeping, eating, working and PLAYING GOLF. - Clyde

Centerfold

I just recalled another incident that happened when we were at Michelle and Jim's for 'Stalker Days 2008'.  I stepped out of the house onto their big rear deck one morning.  Yes, that's the same big rear deck where I was set up to fall on my big rear deck.  Anyway, from up there I could see Ted,  Jim, Jeremy and Justin huddled up out in the yard.  I can't remember if Oliver was with them or not, but I don't think so.

At first they seemed to just be talking but after a few seconds I could tell they were passing around a magazine.  They were holding it up and looking at the centerfold.  Of course you know what I thought..."Hey, I better get out there and check that out."   I headed down the steps to the yard.

I hadn't reached the bottom of the steps when it occurred to me, "Wait a minute, Jeremy and especially Justin, are a little young to be looking at something like that."   It didn't surprise me that Ted was involved, he would show them just about anything.  But I was shocked that Jim would participate.

Imagine my shock when I got close enough to pick out bits and pieces of their conversation...

"Look at the curves on her."  "Check out those headlights."  "Yep, that's what ya call built for action."  "I'd sure like to climb on for a ride."

I didn't know what to think when I heard Justin do his best Austin Powers impression, "Yeaaah Baaaby!"

I was reminding myself that I was in Laurel County, and just about anything can and does happen there, when I walked up to them.  Looking over Jeremy's shoulder I saw what had them all so aroused...

Turns out they had been 'talking tractor' the whole time.  I didn't know whether to be relieved ... or disappointed ... or what.

Ootie Riggin'

Dad has a long history of cobbling together bits and pieces, scraps and spare parts from several things to make something work.  He was so well known for it at Republic Steel that they came to call this style of repair work 'Ootie Riggin'.

Apparently a couple of his sons-in-law have been studying his work.  I ran across this example of  'Ootie Riggin' when we went to Laurel County for StalkerDays...

When the 120 Volt hookup for Ted's RV turned out not to be 120 Volts it took some serious 'Ootie Riggin' to get air conditioning in Ted and Luci's RV.  Here is a close up of some of the details...

It's good to see that some family traditions will be carried on.

Engagement Pictures

When we were at Luci's this past weekend she showed me some of Shawn and Jennifer's engagement pictures.  They hired a professional photographer who posed them in several very beautiful settings and romantic poses.  Here is a sample...

I don't know what that cost them but I'm sure I could have saved them some money. I could have done a 'StalkerClan' engagement picture for a lot less.

Shawn should have called me.  Since he is a relative I could have given him the  3% Family Discount.

Dumb and Dumber and Amber

Amber left a comment on the 'Diggin' Up Bonessite recently.  She apparently doesn't think she looks much like Dulcie Adkins.  What do you think?

Not only did the veneer pop off of my tooth tonight, now Mom informs me that the lady in the second picture looks EXACTLY like me. The one with the long slumping arms, the long miserable frown and and the "Mom" hair-do.

Thanks Mom!

Also, Dustin informed me that I now look like Lloyd Christmas off of "Dumb and Dumber".

Kill me now!! - Amber

I have to admit she looks more like Jim Carrey than Dulcie.  Alrighty then! Do you reckon we could be related to him? - Clyde
